Konnechiwa!
Me llamo....well I can't tell you that just yet! However, I can
tell you that
Now a background on myself...I love trying new things and I love people of
all cultures. I wasn't always like that though, a certain
Mistah Beeben and
GEO helped open my immature, inexperienced, ignorant mind. Hey GEO
even sent
me to Japan to live for three weeks over the summer! Can you imagine
living
with a family you do not know, in a land you've never been to, and dealing
with a huge language barrier?!?! Sounds insane, but it was the most
awesome
experience in my life. I know that this sounds like a cliche, but
that trip changed my life! Besides getting out and seeing the world and
trying
new things with GEO, I am the ASB Vice President, I played soccer and
competed in track for school, I'm a member of the International Thespian
Society, and am enrolled in the advanced acting class at WCHS. I do
not get
much sleep, but I love everything that I participate in! I also enjoy going to new places. I'm game for anything that involves water. I have a natural fascination with water, I love the feel, touch, sound, and of course the taste of it. GEO events that include waterfalls, streams, or the beach are favorites of mine. As a matter of fact, the last GEO adventure allowed me to frolic in a freezing waterfall. So back to GEO. The other officers and I are always trying to bring new blood into the club, as well as trying to get different groups of people to mix with each other and try new things. We're all about promoting tolerance and experiencing something you wouldn't normally do. Examples: going on a desert hike, eating Thai or Mongolian food, watching a black & white film, eating Japanese food with chopsticks while sitting on tatami mats, going to museums, or to see a live play. GEO actively attends such events, and much more!
More than all of those exciting activities, GEO takes extreme pride in
it's
Global Exchange Organization (hence the name GEO). Each Spring a
group of
Japanese exchange students arrive from Yamanashi Gakuin High School in
Japan
to live with American hosts, typically GEO members, for 1-2 weeks, and in
the
summer we send a group of American students to Japan to live for 3 weeks.
It truly is the best exchange program in So Cal. I strongly
recommend
hosting a Japanese exchange student, it's an amazing experience for you
and you family! |
