JORGE GUARDADO
Treasurer 2000-2001
Hello, it’s Jorge Guardado your 2000-2001 GEO Treasurer. Well this is the moment you’ve been waiting for, the answer to the question: Who the hell is Jorge?! Well read on and you’ll become even more confused about me than before.
Here’s a little bit about myself. I’m 17 and a senior. I’m involved a couple other activities at this school, such as: Photography Editor and Features Editor for WCHS Newsbytes, Varsity Football’s Place Kicker, afterwards Varsity Soccer, and I’m taking Video Production in R.O.P.
After High School I plan on attending Citrus College for two years and then transfer to U.C. San Francisco. I’m aspiring to be a film Director, mostly likely not for major movie corporations, but for more independent filmmaking. If all else fail I’ll just marry a rich super model and start a career as a big time rock star touring in Europe. Besides that, other things I might do are write fictional stories (maybe for movies) or become a journalist for music and entertainment magazines.
Some of my hobbies are kicking back with a good book on the hammock watching the sunset pass down over the blazing horizon. HAHA Just Kidding. No really, my hobbies are the great game of Fútbol, playing the Bass Guitar, watching movies, and going to concerts. I listen to a variety of rock music: Swing, Ska, Punk, Psychobilly, Grunge, you name it. My Favorite bands are Misfits, Vandals, Reverend Horton Heat, Dead Kennedys, T.S.O.L. (True Sounds of Liberty), the amazing Mr. X, and No Doubt (Gwen Stefani is my girlfriend!!!).
Now I will tell you about that inexplicable Siren’s lure to GEO. My main reasons for joining GEO were the Hikes and the Foreign Film Potlucks.
GEO showed me what hikes really were. At first I thought the hikes were those winding dirt roads on the side of a hill like at Griffith Park. Well I’ve been had! That’s not a hike! My first hike last year was Bridge to Nowhere and man oh man that was a hike! The trails were long and rugged with beautiful, scenic views. These trails always come out to be a challenge. You climb boulders, cross-rivers, and occasionally get scared off by hideous, wild beasts (Beeken). GEO hikes are the greatest. You return from the trail with a sense of accomplishment.
Foreign Film Potlucks are excellent. Imagine relaxing with friends, eating good food, and watching a movie in another language that would be perplexing to even a person native to that language. Wow that’s what I call a good time. I honestly think a lot of foreign films are far greater than American films. Films from other countries have a lot of creativity in their movies and are not corporate, moneymaking mass productions of films. You either come out of S-2 confused or with a mind full of many thoughts and ideas. That’s what I like about these Potlucks.
I’m really glad to have joined GEO and even more fortunate to become an officer. I really enjoy all the activities GEO has to offer and have fun with all my GEO friends. This is an excellent club and it will continue to be the greatest club on campus throughout this school year. Is that enough propaganda or what! Just Kidding.
